  1. ¶ And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.

  2. And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

  3. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

  12. Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

  13. Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

  14. Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?

  15. Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.

  16. So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

  17. And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

  18. Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.

  19. And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,

  20. Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

  21. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

  22. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:

  23. For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

  24. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

  25. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
