  1. ¶ And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

  2. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

  3. And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

  4. And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

  5. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

  6. Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.

  8. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

  9. Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.

  10. When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

  11. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.

  18. Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us;

And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

  20. And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

  21. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

  22. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

  23. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

  24. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

  25. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
