  1. And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.

  2. If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

  3. For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

  4. And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

  5. And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.

  6. And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.

  7. And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

  8. For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?

  9. But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

  10. When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;

  11. (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

  12. ¶ And Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven:

  13. For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD.

  14. And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

  15. If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;

  16. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

  17. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

  18. If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;

  19. If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

  20. I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.

  21. Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.

  22. He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.

  23. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

  24. When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble.

  25. LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:
