  1. Neuerthelesse, to abide in the flesh, is more needefull for you.

  2. Do all things without murmuring and reasonings,

  3. I speake not because of want: for I haue learned in whatsoeuer state I am, therewith to bee content.

  4. And I can be abased, and I can abounde: euery where in all things I am instructed, both to be full, and to be hungrie, and to abounde, and to haue want.

  5. I am able to do al things through the helpe of Christ, which strengtheneth me.

  6. Strengthened with all might through his glorious power, vnto all patience, and long suffering with ioyfulnesse,

  7. That no man should be moued with these afflictions: for ye your selues knowe, that we are appointed thereunto.

  8. So that we our selues reioyce of you in the Churches of God, because of your patience and faith in al your persecutions and tribulatios that ye suffer,

  9. Thou therefore suffer affliction as a good souldier of Iesus Christ.

  10. But watch thou in all thinges: suffer aduersitie: doe the worke of an Euangelist: cause thy ministerie to be throughly liked of.

  11. For I am nowe readie to be offered, and the time of my departing is at hand.

  12. For both ye sorowed with mee for my bonds, and suffered with ioy the spoyling of your goods, knowing in your selues howe that ye haue in heauen a better, and an enduring substance.

  13. Consider therefore him that endured such speaking against of sinners, lest ye should be wearied and faint in your mindes.

  14. Ye haue not yet resisted vnto blood, striuing against sinne.

  15. And ye haue forgotten the consolation, which speaketh vnto you as vnto children, My sonne, despise not the chastening of the Lord, neither faint when thou art rebuked of him.

  16. For whom the Lord loueth, he chasteneth: and he scourgeth euery sonne that he receiueth:

  17. If ye endure chastening, God offereth him selfe vnto you as vnto sonnes: for what sonne is it whom the father chasteneth not?

  18. If therefore ye be without correction, whereof al are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sonnes.

  19. Moreouer we haue had the fathers of our bodies which corrected vs, and we gaue them reuerence: should we not much rather be in subiection vnto the father of spirites, that we might liue?

  20. For they verely for a few dayes chastened vs after their owne pleasure: but he chasteneth vs for our profite, that we might be partakers of his holinesse.

  21. Now no chastising for the present seemeth to be ioyous, but, grieuous: but afterwarde, it bringeth the quiet fruite of righteousnesse, vnto them which are thereby exercised.

  22. Wherfore lift vp your hands which hang downe, and your weake knees,

  23. Let the brother of lowe degree reioyce in that he is exalted:

  24. Againe hee that is rich, in that hee is made lowe: for as the flower of the grasse, shall he vanish away.

  25. Submit your selues to God: resist the deuill, and he will flee from you.
