  1. For hee that made thee, is thine husband (whose Name is the Lord of hostes) and thy redeemer the Holy one of Israel, shall be called the God of the whole world.

  2. For the Lord hath called thee, being as a woman forsaken, and afflicted in spirite, and as a yong wife when thou wast refused, sayth thy God.

  3. And I wil marry thee vnto me for euer: yea, I will marry thee vnto me in righteousnes, and in iudgement, and in mercy and in compassion.

  4. I will euen marry thee vnto me in faithfulnes, and thou shalt knowe the Lord.

  5. Yet yee say, Wherein? Because the Lord hath beene witnesse betweene thee and the wife of thy youth, against whome thou hast transgressed: yet is shee thy companion, and the wife of thy couenant.

  6. And did not hee make one? yet had hee abundance of spirit: and wherefore one? because he sought a godly seede: therefore keepe your selues in your spirit, and let none trespasse against the wife of his youth.

  7. If thou hatest her, put her away, sayeth the Lord God of Israel, yet he couereth the iniurie vnder his garment, saieth the Lord of hosts: therefore keepe your selues in your spirite, and transgresse not.

  8. Wiues, submit your selues vnto your husbands, as vnto the Lord.

  9. For the husband is the wiues head, euen as Christ is the head of the Church, and the same is the sauiour of his body.

  10. Therfore as the Church is in subiection to Christ, euen so let the wiues be to their husbands in euery thing.

  11. Husbands, loue your wiues, euen as Christ loued the Church, and gaue himselfe for it,

  12. That hee might sanctifie it, and clense it by the washing of water through the worde,

  13. That hee might make it vnto him selfe a glorious Church, not hauing spot or wrinkle, or any such thing: but that it shoulde bee holy and without blame.

  14. So ought men to loue their wiues, as their owne bodies: he that loueth his wife, loueth him selfe.

  15. For no man euer yet hated his owne flesh, but nourisheth and cherisheth it, euen as the Lord doeth the Church.

  16. For we are members of his bodie, of his flesh, and of his bones.

  17. For this cause shall a man leaue father and mother, and shall cleaue to his wife, and they twaine shalbe one flesh.

  18. This is a great secrete, but I speake concerning Christ, and concerning the Church.

  19. Therefore euery one of you, doe ye so: let euery one loue his wife, euen as himselfe, and let the wife see that shee feare her husband.

  20. Wiues, submit your selues vnto your husbands, as it is comely in the Lord.

  21. Husbands, loue your wiues, and be not bitter vnto them.
