  1. For thy Maker is thy husband; Jehovah of hosts is his name: and the Holy One of Israel is thy Redeemer; the God of the whole earth shall he be called.

  2. For Jehovah hath called thee as a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, even a wife of youth, when she is cast off, saith thy God.

  3. And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in justice, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

  7. For I hate putting away, saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, and him that covereth his garment with violence, saith Jehovah of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.

  8. Wives, be in subjection unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

  9. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, being himself the saviour of the body.

  10. But as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their husbands in everything.

  11. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it;

  12. that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,

  13. that he might present the church to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

  14. Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his own wife loveth himself:

  15. for no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as Christ also the church;

  16. because we are members of his body.

  17. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh.

  18. This mystery is great: but I speak in regard of Christ and of the church.

  19. Nevertheless do ye also severally love each one his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she fear her husband.

  20. Wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

  21. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
