  1. And when the Angel stretched out his hande vpon Ierusalem to destroy it, the Lord repented of the euil, and said to the Angel that destroyed the people, It is sufficient, holde nowe thine hand. And the Angel of the Lord was by the threshing place of Araunah the Iebusite.

  2. And Dauid spake vnto the Lord (when he sawe the Angel that smote the people) and saide, Behold, I haue sinned, yea, I haue done wickedly: but these sheepe, what haue they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against mee and against my fathers house.

  6. Then he arose, and did eate and drinke, and walked in the strength of that meate fourtie dayes and fourtie nights, vnto Horeb the mount of God.

  7. And God sent the Angel into Ierusalem to destroy it. And as he was destroying, the Lord behelde, and repented of the euill and sayde to the Angel that destroyed, It is nowe ynough, let thine hande cease. Then the Angel of the Lord stoode by the thresshing floore of Ornan the Iebusite.

  8. And Dauid lift vp his eyes, and sawe the Angel of the Lord stande betweene the earth and the heauen with his sworde drawen in his hand, and stretched out towarde Ierusalem. Then Dauid and the Elders of Israel, which were clothed in sacke, fell vpon their faces.

  9. And the wind passed before me, and made the heares of my flesh to stande vp.

  10. Then stoode one, and I knewe not his face: an image was before mine eyes, and in silence heard I a voyce, saying,

  11. Shall man be more iust then God? or shall a man be more pure then his maker?

  12. Beholde, he founde no stedfastnesse in his Seruants, and laid follie vpon his Angels.

  13. Howe much more in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which shalbe destroyed before the moth?

  14. Let them be as chaffe before the winde, and let the Angel of the Lord scatter them.

  15. Let their way be darke and slipperie: and let the Angel of the Lord persecute them.

  16. For hee shall giue his Angels charge ouer thee to keepe thee in all thy wayes.

  17. They shall beare thee in their handes, that thou hurt not thy foote against a stone.

  18. Prayse the Lord, ye his Angels, that excell in strength, that doe his commandement in obeying the voyce of his worde.

  19. Prayse the Lord, all ye his hostes, ye his seruants that doe his pleasure.

  20. Then I sayd, Wo is me: for I am vndone, because I am a man of polluted lips, and I dwell in the middes of a people of polluted lips: for mine eyes haue seene the King and Lord of hostes.

  21. Then flewe one of the Seraphims vnto me with an hote cole in his hand, which he had taken from the altar with the tongs:

  22. And he touched my mouth, and sayd, Loe, this hath touched thy lips, and thine iniquitie shall be taken away, and thy sinne shalbe purged.

  23. And I looked, and beholde, a whirlewinde came out of the North, a great cloude and a fire wrapped about it, and a brightnesse was about it, and in the middes thereof, to wit, in the middes of the fire came out as the likenesse of amber.

  24. Also out of the middes therof came the likenesse of foure beastes, and this was their forme: they had the appearance of a man.

  25. And euery one had foure faces, and euery one had foure wings.
