  1. And when the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, Jehovah repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough; now stay thy hand. And the angel of Jehovah was by the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

  2. And David spake unto Jehovah when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done perversely; but these sheep, what have they done? let thy hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father’s house.

  7. And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was about to destroy, Jehovah beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the destroying angel, It is enough; now stay thy hand. And the angel of Jehovah was standing by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

  8. And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of Jehovah standing between earth and heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.

  9. Then a spirit passed before my face; The hair of my flesh stood up.

  10. It stood still, but I could not discern the appearance thereof; A form was before mine eyes: There wassilence, and I heard a voice, saying,

  11. Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall a man be more pure than his Maker?

  12. Behold, he putteth no trust in his servants; And his angels he chargeth with folly:

  13. How much more them that dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Who are crushed before the moth!

  14. Let them be as chaff before the wind, And the angel of Jehovah drivingthemon.

  15. Let their way be dark and slippery, And the angel of Jehovah pursuing them.

  16. For he will give his angels charge over thee, To keep thee in all thy ways.

  17. They shall bear thee up in their hands, Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

  18. Bless Jehovah, ye his angels, That are mighty in strength, that fulfil his word, Hearkening unto the voice of his word.

  19. Bless Jehovah, all ye his hosts, Ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.

  20. Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of hosts.

  21. Then flew one of the seraphim unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

  22. and he touched my mouth with it, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin forgiven.

  23. And I looked, and, behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, a great cloud, with a fire infolding itself, and a brightness round about it, and out of the midst thereof as it were glowing metal, out of the midst of the fire.

  24. And out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man;

  25. and every one had four faces, and every one of them had four wings.
