  1. And when the angel of the Lord had stretched out his hand over Jerusalem to destroy it, the Lord had pity on the affliction, and said to the angel that slew the people: It is enough: now hold thy hand. And the angel of the Lord was by the thrashingfloor of Areuna the Jebusite.

  8. And David lifting up his eyes, saw the angel of the Lord standing between heaven and earth, with a drawn sword in his hand, turned against Jerusalem: and both he and the ancients clothed in haircloth, fell down flat on the ground.

  9. And when a spirit passed before me, the hair of my flesh stood up.

  10. There stood one whose countenance I knew not, an image before my eyes, and I heard the voice, as it were, of a gentle wind.

  15. O Lord, thy mercy is in heaven, and thy truth reacheth even to the clouds.

  16. But my horn shall be exalted like that of the unicorn: and my old age in plentiful mercy.

  17. My eye also hath looked down upon my enemies: and my ear shall hear of the downfall of the malignant that rise up against me.

  18. Thou hast appointed darkness, and it is night: in it shall all the beasts of the woods go about:

  19. The young lions roaring after their prey, and seeking their meat from God.

  20. And I said: Woe is me, because I have held my peace; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people that hath unclean lips, and I have seen with my eyes the King the Lord of hosts.

  21. And one of the seraphims flew to me, and in his hand was a live coal, which he had taken with the tongs off the altar.

  22. And he touched my mouth, and said: Behold this hath touched thy lips, and thy iniquities shall be taken away, and thy sin shall be cleansed.

  23. And I saw, and behold a whirlwind came out of the north: and a great cloud, and a fire infolding it, and brightness was about it: and out of the midst thereof, that is, out of the midst of the fire, as it were the resemblance of amber:

  24. And in the midst thereof the likeness of four living creatures: and this was their appearance: there was the likeness of a man in them.

  25. Every one had four faces, and every one four wings.
