  1. All things are clean to the clean: but to them that are defiled and to unbelievers, nothing is clean: but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

  2. They profess that they know God: but in their works they deny him: being abominable and incredulous and to every good work reprobate.

  3. For we ourselves also were some time unwise, incredulous, erring, slaves to divers desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.

  4. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea, which is moved and carried about by the wind.

  5. Therefore let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

  6. You ask and receive not: because you ask amiss, that you may consume it on your concupiscences.

  7. Ye husbands, likewise dwelling with them according to knowledge, giving honour to the female as to the weaker vessel and as to the co-heirs of the grace of life: that your prayers be not hindered.

  8. For the time is, that judgment should begin at the house of God. And if at first at us, what shall be the end of them that believe not the gospel of God?

  9. And if the just man shall scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

  10. And especially them who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise government: audacious, self willed, they fear not to bring in sects, blaspheming.

  11. But these men, as irrational beasts, naturally tending to the snare and to destruction, blaspheming those things which they know not, shall perish in their corruption:

  12. Receiving the reward of their injustice, counting for a pleasure the delights of a day: stains and spots, sporting themselves to excess, rioting in their feasts with you:

  13. Having eyes full of adultery and of sin that ceaseth not: alluring unstable souls: having their heart exercised with covetousness: children of malediction.

  14. Leaving the right way, they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam of Bosor who loved the wages of iniquity,

  15. But had a check of his madness, the dumb beast used to the yoke, which, speaking with man's voice, forbade the folly of the prophet.

  16. These are fountains without water and clouds tossed with whirlwinds, to whom the mist of darkness is reserved.

  17. For, speaking proud words of vanity, they allure by the desires of fleshly riotousness those who for a little while escape, such as converse in error:

  18. Promising them liberty, whereas they themselves are the slaves of corruption. For by whom a man is overcome, of the same also he is the slave.

  19. If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth.

  20. But if we walk in the light, as he also is in the light, we have fellowship one with another: And the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

  21. And every one that hath this hope in him sanctifieth himself, as he also is holy.

  22. Whosoever committeth sin committeth also iniquity. And sin is iniquity.

  23. And you know that he appeared to take away our sins: and in him there is no sin.

  24. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: and whosoever sinneth hath not seen him nor known him.

  25. Little children, let no man deceive you. He that doth justice is just, even as he is just.
