  1. And when you returned and wept before the Lord, he heard you not, neither would he yield to your voice.

  2. And the Lord was angry with me on your account and heard me not, but said to me: It is enough: speak no more to me of this matter.

  3. They shall cry, and there shall be none to save: to the Lord, and he shall not hear them.

  14. The victims of the wicked are abominable to the Lord: the vows of the just are acceptable.

  15. The Lord is far from the wicked: and he will hear the prayers of the just.

  16. He that stoppeth his ear against the cry of the poor, shall also cry himself, and shall not be heard.

  17. The sacrifices of the wicked are abominable, because they are offered of wickedness.

  18. He that turneth away his ears from hearing the law, his prayer shall be an abomination.

  19. And when you stretch forth your hands, I will turn away my eyes from you: and when you multiply prayer, I will not hear: for your hands are full of blood.

  20. I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I have not said to the seed of Jacob: Seek me in vain. I am the Lord that speak justice, that declare right things.

  21. But your iniquities have divided between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you that he should not hear.

  22. Wherefore thus saith the Lord: Behold I will bring in evils upon them, which they shall not be able to escape: and they shall cry to me, and I will not hearken to them.

  23. When they fast I will not hear their prayers: and if they offer holocausts and victims, I will not receive them: for I will consume them by the sword, and by famine, and by the pestilence.

  24. And the Lord said to me: If Moses and Samuel shall stand before me, my soul is not towards this people: cast them out from my sight, and let them go forth.

  25. As a burning wind will I scatter them before the enemy: I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their destruction.
