  1. And ye returned and wept before Jehovah; but Jehovah hearkened not to your voice, nor gave ear unto you.

  2. But Jehovah was wroth with me for your sakes, and hearkened not unto me; and Jehovah said unto me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this matter.

  13. Then will they call upon me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they shall not find me:

  14. The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; But the prayer of the upright is his delight.

  15. Jehovah is far from the wicked; But he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

  16. Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, He also shall cry, but shall not be heard.

  17. The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination; How much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind!

  18. He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination.

  19. And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

  20. I have not spoken in secret, in a place of the land of darkness; I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I, Jehovah, speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

  21. but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, so that he will not hear.

  22. Therefore thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and they shall cry unto me, but I will not hearken unto them.

  23. When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt-offering and meal-offering, I will not accept them; but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.

  24. Then said Jehovah unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind would not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.

  25. I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will show them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.
