  1. "You are not to delay offering from your harvest of grain, olive oil or wine. "The firstborn of your sons you are to give to me.

  10. and he starts beating up his fellow servants and spends his time eating and drinking with drunkards;

  11. then his master will come on a day the servant does not expect, at a time he doesn't know;

  12. and he will cut him in two and put him with the hypocrites, where people will wail and grind their teeth!

  13. Five of them were foolish and five were sensible.

  14. The foolish ones took lamps with them but no oil,

  15. whereas the others took flasks of oil with their lamps.

  16. Now the bridegroom was late, so they all went to sleep.

  17. It was the middle of the night when the cry rang out, `The bridegroom is here! Go out to meet him!'

  18. The girls all woke up and prepared their lamps for lighting.

  19. The foolish ones said to the sensible ones, `Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.'

  20. `No,' they replied, `there may not be enough for both you and us. Go to the oil dealers and buy some for yourselves.'

  21. But as they were going off to buy, the bridegroom came. Those who were ready went with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut.

  22. Later, the other bridesmaids came. `Sir! Sir!' they cried, `Let us in!'

  23. But he answered, `Indeed! I tell you, I don't know you!'

  24. So stay alert, because you know neither the day nor the hour.

  25. To another he said, “Follow me!” but the man replied, “Sir, first let me go away and bury my father.”
