  1. To the wicked, however, God says, “What right have you to recite My statutes and to bear My covenant on your lips?

  2. For you hate My instruction and cast My words behind you.

  3. For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the LORD.

  4. They accepted none of my counsel; they despised all my reproof.

  5. He who despises instruction will pay the penalty, but the one who respects a command will be rewarded.

  12. Therefore hear the word of the LORD, O scoffers who rule this people in Jerusalem.

  13. These are rebellious people, deceitful children, children unwilling to obey the LORD’s instruction.

  14. They say to the seers, “Stop seeing visions!” and to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us the truth! Speak to us pleasant words; prophesy illusions.

  15. Get out of the way; turn off the road. Rid us of the Holy One of Israel!”

  16. Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

  17. To whom can I give this warning? Who will listen to me? Look, their ears are closed, so they cannot hear. See, the word of the LORD has become offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it.

  18. The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the LORD, what wisdom do they really have?

  19. Though I wrote for them the great things of My law, they regarded them as something strange.

  20. “But you made the Nazirites drink wine and commanded the prophets not to prophesy.

  21. “Do not preach,” they preach. “Do not preach these things; disgrace will not overtake us.”

  22. Then Abraham said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”

  23. Then Jesus said to them, “O foolish ones, how slow are your hearts to believe all that the prophets have spoken!

  24. Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

  25. If you had believed Moses, you would believe Me, because he wrote about Me.
