  1. So Moses went back and summoned the elders of the people and set before them all these words that the LORD had commanded him.

  3. And Moses wrote down all the words of the LORD. Early the next morning he got up and built an altar at the base of the mountain, along with twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel.

  4. Then the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and stay here, so that I may give you the tablets of stone, with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction.”

  8. The LORD also said to Moses, “Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.”

  9. And after this all the Israelites came near, and Moses commanded them to do everything that the LORD had told him on Mount Sinai.

  10. These are the statutes, ordinances, and laws that the LORD established between Himself and the Israelites through Moses on Mount Sinai.

  11. You must not add to or subtract from what I command you, so that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I am giving you.

  12. See, I have taught you statutes and ordinances just as the LORD my God has commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land that you are about to enter and possess.

  13. At that time the LORD commanded me to teach you the statutes and ordinances you are to follow in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.

  14. Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.

  15. Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as reminders on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.

  17. See that you do everything I command you; do not add to it or subtract from it.

  18. Now therefore, write down for yourselves this song and teach it to the Israelites; have them recite it, so that it may be a witness for Me against them.

  19. So that very day Moses wrote down this song and taught it to the Israelites.

  20. Yet through all His prophets and seers, the LORD warned Israel and Judah, saying, “Turn from your wicked ways and keep My commandments and statutes, according to the entire Law that I commanded your fathers and delivered to you through My servants the prophets.”

  21. And Shaphan the scribe went to the king and reported, “Your servants have paid out the money that was found in the temple and have put it into the hands of the workers and supervisors of the house of the LORD.”

  22. Moreover, Shaphan the scribe told the king, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it in the presence of the king.

  23. When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his clothes

  24. and commanded Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Achbor son of Micaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the servant of the king:

  25. “Go and inquire of the LORD for me, for the people, and for all Judah concerning the words in this book that has been found. For great is the wrath of the LORD that burns against us because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book by doing all that is written about us.”
