  1. On the seventh day Elishama son of Ammihud, the leader of the Ephraimites, drew near.

  2. His offering was one silver platter weighing a hundred and thirty shekels, and one silver bowl weighing seventy shekels, both according to the sanctuary shekel and filled with fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering;

  3. one gold dish weighing ten shekels, filled with incense;

  4. one young bull, one ram, and one male lamb a year old for a burnt offering;

  5. one male goat for a sin offering;

  6. and a peace offering of two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Elishama son of Ammihud.

  7. Concerning Joseph he said: “May his land be blessed by the LORD with the precious dew from heaven above and the deep waters that lie beneath,

  8. with the bountiful harvest from the sun and the abundant yield of the seasons,

  9. with the best of the ancient mountains and the bounty of the everlasting hills,

  10. with the choice gifts of the land and everything in it, and with the favor of Him who dwelt in the burning bush. May these rest on the head of Joseph and crown the brow of the prince of his brothers.

  11. His majesty is like a firstborn bull, and his horns are like those of a wild ox. With them he will gore the nations, even to the ends of the earth. Such are the myriads of Ephraim, and such are the thousands of Manasseh.”

  12. This was the territory of the descendants of Ephraim by their clans: The border of their inheritance went from Ataroth-addar in the east to Upper Beth-horon

  13. and out toward the Sea. From Michmethath on the north it turned eastward toward Taanath-shiloh and passed by it to Janoah on the east.

  14. From Janoah it went down to Ataroth and Naarah, and then reached Jericho and came out at the Jordan.

  15. From Tappuah the border went westward to the Brook of Kanah and ended at the Sea. This was the inheritance of the clans of the tribe of Ephraim,

  16. along with all the cities and villages set apart for the descendants of Ephraim within the inheritance of Manasseh.

  17. The house of Joseph also attacked Bethel, and the LORD was with them.

  18. They sent spies to Bethel (formerly known as Luz),

  19. and when the spies saw a man coming out of the city, they said to him, “Please show us how to get into the city, and we will treat you kindly.”

  20. So the man showed them the entrance to the city, and they put the city to the sword but released that man and all his family.

  21. Then the men of Ephraim said to Gideon, “Why have you done this to us? Why did you fail to call us when you went to fight against Midian?” And they contended with him violently.

  22. But Gideon answered them, “Now what have I accomplished compared to you? Are not the gleanings of Ephraim better than the grape harvest of Abiezer?

  23. God has delivered Oreb and Zeeb, the two princes of Midian, into your hand. What was I able to do compared to you?” When he had said this, their anger against him subsided.

  24. Then the men of Ephraim assembled and crossed the Jordan to Zaphon. They said to Jephthah, “Why have you crossed over to fight the Ammonites without calling us to go with you? We will burn your house down with you inside!”

  25. But Jephthah replied, “My people and I had a serious conflict with the Ammonites, and when I called, you did not save me out of their hands.
