  2. Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to tell you in person the same things we are writing.

  3. It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond these essential requirements:

  4. You must abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.

  5. I had no peace in my spirit, because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I said goodbye to them and went on to Macedonia.

  8. and not only by his arrival, but also by the comfort he had received from you. He told us about your longing, your mourning, and your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced all the more.

  9. On account of this, we are encouraged. In addition to our own encouragement, we were even more delighted by the joy of Titus. For his spirit has been refreshed by all of you.

  10. Indeed, I was not embarrassed by anything I had boasted to him about you. But just as everything we said to you was true, so our boasting to Titus has proved to be true as well.

  11. And his affection for you is even greater when he remembers that you were all obedient as you welcomed him with fear and trembling.

  12. So we urged Titus to help complete your act of grace, just as he had started it.

  13. But thanks be to God, who put into the heart of Titus the same devotion I have for you.

  14. For not only did he welcome our appeal, but he is eagerly coming to you of his own volition.

  15. Along with Titus we are sending the brother who is praised by all the churches for his work in the gospel.

  16. More than that, this brother was chosen by the churches to accompany us with the offering—the gracious gift we administer to honor the Lord Himself and to show our eagerness to help.

  17. We hope to avoid any criticism of the way we administer this generous gift.

  18. For we are taking great care to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord, but also in the eyes of men.

  19. And we are sending along with them our brother whose earnestness has been proven many times and in many ways, and now even more so by his great confidence in you.

  20. As for Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker among you. As for our brothers, they are messengers of the churches, to the glory of Christ.

  21. Did I exploit you by anyone I sent you?

  22. I urged Titus to visit you, and I sent our brother with him. Did Titus exploit you in any way? Did we not walk in the same Spirit and follow in the same footsteps?

  23. Fourteen years later I went up again to Jerusalem, accompanied by Barnabas. I took Titus along also.

  24. I went in response to a revelation and set before them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. But I spoke privately to those recognized as leaders, for fear that I was running or had already run in vain.

  25. Yet not even Titus, who was with me, was compelled to be circumcised, even though he was a Greek.
