  1. “What shall we do with these men?” they asked. “It is clear to everyone living in Jerusalem that a remarkable miracle has occurred through them, and we cannot deny it.

  12. At that time, however, she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upper room.

  13. Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples heard that Peter was there and sent two men to urge him, “Come to us without delay.”

  14. So Peter got up and went with them. On his arrival, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood around him, weeping and showing him the tunics and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.

  15. Then Peter sent them all out of the room. He knelt down and prayed, and turning toward her body, he said, “Tabitha, get up!” She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter, she sat up.

  16. Peter took her by the hand and helped her up. Then he called the saints and widows and presented her to them alive.

  17. This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord.

  18. But Elymas the sorcerer (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith.

  19. Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked directly at Elymas

  20. and said, “O child of the devil and enemy of all righteousness, you are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery! Will you never stop perverting the straight ways of the Lord?

  21. Now look, the hand of the Lord is against you, and for a time you will be blind and unable to see the light of the sun.” Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand.

  22. When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was astonished at the teaching about the Lord.

  23. So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who affirmed the message of His grace by enabling them to perform signs and wonders.

  24. This man was listening to the words of Paul, who looked intently at him and saw that he had faith to be healed.

  25. The whole assembly fell silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul describing the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them.
