  1. But now you must put aside all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.

  3. and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

  4. Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with hearts of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

  11. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your entire spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  12. But you, O man of God, flee from these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.

  13. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the good confession before many witnesses.

  14. But avoid irreverent, empty chatter, which will only lead to more ungodliness,

  15. and the talk of such men will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,

  16. So if anyone cleanses himself of what is unfit, he will be a vessel for honor: sanctified, useful to the Master, and prepared for every good work.

  17. Flee from youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

  18. Slaves are to submit to their own masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not argumentative,

  19. not stealing from them, but showing all good faith, so that in every respect they will adorn the teaching about God our Savior.

  20. Pursue peace with everyone, as well as holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.

  21. See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God, and that no root of bitterness springs up to cause trouble and defile many.

  22. As obedient children, do not conform to the passions of your former ignorance.

  23. But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do,

  24. for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

  25. Beloved, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from the desires of the flesh, which war against your soul.
