  1. And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what portion hath a believer with an unbeliever?

  2. And what agreement hath a temple of God with idols? for we are a temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

  3. And for this cause God sendeth them a working of error, that they should believe a lie:

  4. that they all might be judged who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

  5. and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men; for all have not faith.

  6. though I was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: howbeit I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief;

  7. if we are faithless, he abideth faithful; for he cannot deny himself.

  8. To the pure all things are pure: but to them that are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

  9. Take heed, brethren, lest haply there shall be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God:

  10. For who, when they heard, did provoke? nay, did not all they that came out of Egypt by Moses?

  11. And with whom was he displeased forty years? was it not with them that sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?

  12. And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that were disobedient?

  13. And we see that they were not able to enter in because of unbelief.

  14. Let us fear therefore, lest haply, a promise being left of entering into his rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it.

  15. For indeed we have had good tidings preached unto us, even as also they: but the word of hearing did not profit them, because it was not united by faith with them that heard.

  16. For we who have believed do enter into that rest; even as he hath said, As I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

  17. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some should enter thereinto, and they to whom the good tidings were before preached failed to enter in because of disobedience,

  18. Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, that no man fall after the same example of disobedience.

  19. and without faith it is impossible to be well-pleasing unto him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that seek after him.

  20. By faith Rahab the harlot perished not with them that were disobedient, having received the spies with peace.

  21. See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not when they refused him that warned them on earth, much more shall not we escape who turn away from him that warneth from heaven:

  22. But let him ask in faith, nothing doubting: for he that doubteth is like the surge of the sea driven by the wind and tossed.

  23. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord;

  24. For you therefore that believe is the preciousness: but for such as disbelieve, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner;

  25. and, A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence; for they stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
