  1. And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice; for they will say, Jehovah hath not appeared unto thee.

  2. And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.

  15. Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; They remembered not the multitude of thy lovingkindnesses, But were rebellious at the sea, even at the Red Sea.

  16. Yea, they despised the pleasant land, They believed not his word,

  17. And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

  18. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn again, and be healed.

  19. and the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.

  23. Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find your own pleasure, and exact all your labors.

  24. They have denied Jehovah, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:

  25. and the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.
