  1. Moses answered, and said: They will not believe me, nor hear my voice, but they will say: The Lord hath not appeared to thee.

  2. And Moses said: There are six hundred thousand footmen of this people, and sayest thou: I will give them flesh to eat a whole month?

  3. Shall then a multitude of sheep and oxen be killed, that it may suffice for their food? or shall the fishes of the sea be gathered together to fill them?

  13. Say ye among the Gentiles, the Lord hath reigned. For he hath corrected the world, which shall not be moved: he will judge the people with justice.

  14. Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad, let the sea be moved, and the fulness thereof:

  15. And he led them into the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

  16. These have seen the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep.

  17. And he said: Go, and thou shalt say to this people: Hearing, hear, and understand not: and see the vision, and know it not.

  18. Blind the heart of this people, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes: lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted and I heal them.

  19. And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is the son of Romelia. If you will not believe, you shall not continue.

  20. Who a hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

  21. And he shall grow up as a tender plant before him, and as a root out of a thirsty ground: there is no beauty in him, nor comeliness: and we have seen him, and there was no sightliness, that we should be desirous of him:

  22. Despised, and the most abject of men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with infirmity: and his look was as it were hidden and despised, whereupon we esteemed him not.

  23. Why have we fasted, and thou hast not regarded: have we humbled our souls, and thou hast not taken notice? Behold in the day of your fast your own will is found, and you exact of all your debtors.

  24. They have denied the Lord, and said, It is not he: and the evil shall not come upon us: we shall not see the sword and famine.

  25. The prophets have spoken in the wind, and there was no word of God in them: these things therefore shall befall them.
