  1. Now Jehovah said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto the land that I will show thee:

  2. and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and be thou a blessing:

  3. and I will bless them that bless thee, and him that curseth thee will I curse: and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

  4. And Jehovah said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art, northward and southward and eastward and westward:

  5. for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.

  6. And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then may thy seed also be numbered.

  7. Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for unto thee will I give it.

  8. And Jehovah appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:

  9. sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

  10. and I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these lands; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

  11. because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

  12. And he dreamed; and behold, a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven; and behold, the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

  13. And, behold, Jehovah stood above it, and said, I am Jehovah, the God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

  14. and thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

  15. And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee whithersoever thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

  16. And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came from Paddan-aram, and blessed him.

  17. And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.

  18. And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;

  19. and the land which I gave unto Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.

  20. Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.

  21. Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be mine own possession from among all peoples: for all the earth is mine:

  22. and ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

  23. And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basins; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.

  24. And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that Jehovah hath spoken will we do, and be obedient.

  25. And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which Jehovah hath made with you concerning all these words.
