  1. But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believed on him were to receive: for the Spirit was not yet given; because Jesus was not yet glorified.

  2. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever,

  3. even the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive; for it beholdeth him not, neither knoweth him: ye know him; for he abideth with you, and shall be in you.

  4. Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I go, I will send him unto you.

  5. And he, when he is come, will convict the world in respect of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

  6. of sin, because they believe not on me;

  7. of righteousness, because I go to the Father, and ye behold me no more;

  8. of judgment, because the prince of this world hath been judged.

  9. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

  10. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but what things soever he shall hear, these shall he speak: and he shall declare unto you the things that are to come.

  11. He shall glorify me: for he shall take of mine, and shall declare it unto you.

  12. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

  13. And there appeared unto them tongues parting asunder, like as of fire; and it sat upon each one of them.

  14. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

  15. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thy heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

  16. While it remained, did it not remain thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thy power? How is it that thou hast conceived this thing in thy heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

  17. who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit:

  18. for as yet it was fallen upon none of them: only they had been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.

  19. Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

  20. Now when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money,

  21. saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay my hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit.

  22. But Peter said unto him, Thy silver perish with thee, because thou hast thought to obtain the gift of God with money.

  23. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right before God.

  24. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray the Lord, if perhaps the thought of thy heart shall be forgiven thee.

  25. And while Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
