  1. And also of the son of the handmaid will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.

  2. And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.

  9. And it came to pass after these things, that God did prove Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham; and he said, Here am I.

  10. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son, whom thou lovest, even Isaac, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt-offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

  11. And Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he clave the wood for the burnt-offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

  12. And Abraham said, God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son: so they went both of them together.

  13. And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, upon the wood.

  14. And the angel of Jehovah called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

  15. And he said, Lay not thy hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him; for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son, from me.

  16. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of Jehovah it shall be provided.

  17. And the angel of Jehovah called unto Abraham a second time out of heaven,

  18. and said, By myself have I sworn, saith Jehovah, because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son,

  19. And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and Jehovah had blessed Abraham in all things.

  20. and I will make thee swear by Jehovah, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that thou wilt not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:

  21. Jehovah, the God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house, and from the land of my nativity, and who spake unto me, and who sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he will send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife for my son from thence.

  22. And he said, O Jehovah, the God of my master Abraham, send me, I pray thee, good speed this day, and show kindness unto my master Abraham.

  23. And the man looked stedfastly on her, holding his peace, to know whether Jehovah had made his journey prosperous or not.

  24. And the man bowed his head, and worshipped Jehovah.

  25. And he said, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of my master Abraham, who hath not forsaken his lovingkindness and his truth toward my master: as for me, Jehovah hath led me in the way to the house of my master’s brethren.
