  1. for I think that God did set forth us the apostles last--as appointed to death, because a spectacle we became to the world, and messengers, and men;

  2. unto the present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and wander about,

  3. and labour, working with our own hands; being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer;

  4. being spoken evil of, we entreat; as filth of the world we did become--of all things an offscouring--till now.

  5. Am not I an apostle? am not I free? Jesus Christ our Lord have I not seen? my work are not ye in the Lord?

  6. if to others I am not an apostle--yet doubtless to you I am; for the seal of my apostleship are ye in the Lord.

  12. but we ourselves in ourselves the sentence of the death have had, that we may not be trusting on ourselves, but on God, who is raising the dead,

  13. who out of so great a death did deliver us, and doth deliver, in whom we have hoped that even yet He will deliver;

  14. ye working together also for us by your supplication, that the gift through many persons to us, through many may be thankfully acknowledged for us.

  15. on every side being in tribulation, but not straitened; perplexed, but not in despair;

  16. persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

  17. at all times the dying of the Lord Jesus bearing about in the body, that the life also of Jesus in our body may be manifested,

  18. for always are we who are living delivered up to death because of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our dying flesh,

  19. so that, the death indeed in us doth work, and the life in you.

  20. but in everything recommending ourselves as God's ministrants; in much patience, in tribulations, in necessities, in distresses,

  21. in stripes, in imprisonments, in insurrections, in labours, in watchings, in fastings,

  22. through glory and dishonour, through evil report and good report, as leading astray, and true;

  23. as unknown, and recognized; as dying, and lo, we live; as chastened, and not put to death;

  24. as sorrowful, and always rejoicing; as poor, and making many rich; as having nothing, and possessing all things.

  25. And I, Paul, myself, do call upon you--through the meekness and gentleness of the Christ--who in presence, indeed am humble among you, and being absent, have courage toward you,
