  1. A spirit came out and stood before the LORD, and said, ‘I will entice him.’

  2. The LORD said to him, ‘How?’ He said, ‘I will go out and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ He said, ‘You will entice him, and will also prevail. Go out and do so.’

  3. Now therefore, behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; and the LORD has spoken evil concerning you.”

  4. But the unclean spirit, when he is gone out of the man, passes through waterless places, seeking rest, and doesn’t find it.

  5. Then he says, ‘I will return into my house from which I came out,’ and when he has come back, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order.

  6. Then he goes, and takes with himself seven other spirits more evil than he is, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first. Even so will it be also to this evil generation.”

  7. Immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out,

  8. saying, “Ha! What do we have to do with you, Yeshua, you Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are: the Holy One of God!”

  9. The scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebul,” and, “By the prince of the demons he casts out the demons.”

  10. He summoned them, and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan?

  11. If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

  12. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

  13. If Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he can’t stand, but has an end.

  14. But no one can enter into the house of the strong man to plunder, unless he first binds the strong man; and then he will plunder his house.

  15. Most certainly I tell you, all sins of the descendants of man will be forgiven, including their blasphemies with which they may blaspheme;

  16. but whoever may blaspheme against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation.”

  17. —because they said, “He has an unclean spirit.”

  18. When he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?”

  19. He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing, except by prayer and fasting.”

  20. But some of the itinerant Jews, exorcists, took on themselves to invoke over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Yeshua, saying, “We adjure you by Yeshua whom Paul preaches.”

  21. There were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did this.

  22. The evil spirit answered, “Yeshua I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?”

  23. The man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

  24. But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God, and I don’t desire that you would have fellowship with demons.

  25. You can’t both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You can’t both partake of the table of the Lord, and of the table of demons.
