  1. And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said: I will deceive him. And the Lord said to him: By what means?

  2. And he said: I will go forth, and be a lying spirit, in the mouth of all his prophets. And the Lord said: Thou shalt deceive him, and shalt prevail: go forth, and do so.

  3. Now, therefore, behold the Lord hath given a lying spirit in the mouth of all thy prophets that are here, and the Lord hath spoken evil against thee.

  4. And when an unclean spirit is gone out of a man he walketh through dry places seeking rest, and findeth none.

  5. Then he saith: I will return into my house from whence I came out. And coming he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

  6. Then he goeth, and taketh with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is made worse than the first. So shall it be also to this wicked generation.

  7. And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,

  8. Saying: What have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know who thou art, the Holy One of God.

  9. And the scribes who were come down from Jerusalem, said: He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of devils he casteth out devils.

  10. And after he had called them together, he said to them in parables: How can Satan cast out Satan?

  11. And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

  12. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

  13. And if Satan be risen up against himself, he is divided, and cannot stand, but hath an end.

  14. No man can enter into the house of a strong man and rob him of his goods, unless he first bind the strong man, and then shall he plunder his house.

  15. Amen I say to you that all sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and the blasphemies wherewith they shall blaspheme:

  16. But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, shall never have forgiveness, but shall be guilty of an everlasting sin.

  17. Because they said: He hath an unclean spirit.

  18. And he said to them: This kind can go out by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

  19. And departing from thence, they passed through Galilee: and he would not that any man should know it.

  20. Now some also of the Jewish exorcists, who went about, attempted to invoke over them that had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying: I conjure you by Jesus, whom Paul preacheth.

  21. And there were certain men, seven sons of Sceva, a Jew, a chief priest, that did this.

  22. But the wicked spirit, answering, said to them: Jesus I know: and Paul I know. But who are you?

  23. And the man in whom the wicked spirit was, leaping upon them and mastering them both, prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

  24. But the things which the heathens sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils and not to God. And I would not that you should be made partakers with devils.

  25. You cannot drink the chalice of the Lord and the chalice of devils: you cannot be partakers of the table of the Lord and of the table of devils.
