  1. Joseph was brought down to Egypt. Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh’s, the captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the hand of the Ishmaelites that had brought him down there.

  2. The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man. He was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

  3. His master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did prosper in his hand.

  4. Joseph found favor in his sight. He ministered to him, and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

  5. From the time that he made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake. the LORD’s blessing was on all that he had, in the house and in the field.

  6. He left all that he had in Joseph’s hand. He didn’t concern himself with anything, except for the food which he ate. Joseph was well-built and handsome.

  7. Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?”

  8. Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Because God has shown you all of this, there is no one so discreet and wise as you.

  9. You shall be over my house, and according to your word will all my people be ruled. Only in the throne I will be greater than you.”

  10. Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Behold, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.”

  11. Pharaoh took off his signet ring from his hand, and put it on Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in robes of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck,

  12. and he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had. They cried before him, “Bow the knee!” He set him over all the land of Egypt.

  13. Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, and without you shall no man lift up his hand or his foot in all the land of Egypt.”

  14. On that night, the king couldn’t sleep. He commanded the book of records of the chronicles to be brought, and they were read to the king.

  15. It was found written that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s eunuchs, who were doorkeepers, who had tried to lay hands on the King Ahasuerus.

  16. The king said, “What honor and dignity has been bestowed on Mordecai for this?” Then the king’s servants who attended him said, “Nothing has been done for him.”

  17. The king said, “Who is in the court?” Now Haman had come into the outer court of the king’s house, to speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

  18. The king’s servants said to him, “Behold, Haman stands in the court.” The king said, “Let him come in.”

  19. So Haman came in. The king said to him, “What shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor?” Now Haman said in his heart, “Who would the king delight to honor more than myself?”

  20. Haman said to the king, “For the man whom the king delights to honor,

  21. let royal clothing be brought which the king uses to wear, and the horse that the king rides on, and on the head of which a crown royal is set.

  22. Let the clothing and the horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that they may array the man whom the king delights to honor with them, and have him ride on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him, ‘Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!’”

  23. Then the king said to Haman, “Hurry and take the clothing and the horse, as you have said, and do this for Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king’s gate. Let nothing fail of all that you have spoken.”

  24. Then Haman took the clothing and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and had him ride through the city square, and proclaimed before him, “Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!”

  25. Now as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
