Key Bible Verses
Behold, the Lord GOD will come as a mighty one, and his arm will rule for him. Behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.
He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom. He will gently lead those who have their young.
But now thus says the LORD who created you, Jacob, and he who formed you, Israel: “Don’t be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.
For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I have given Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
Since you have been precious and honored in my sight, and I have loved you; therefore I will give people in your place, and nations instead of your life.
Don’t be afraid; for I am with you. I will bring your seed from the east, and gather you from the west.
I will tell the north, ‘Give them up!’ and tell the south, ‘Don’t hold them back! Bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth—
everyone who is called by my name, and whom I have created for my glory, whom I have formed, yes, whom I have made.’”
But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me, and the Lord has forgotten me.”
“Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you!
Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.
Your children make haste; your destroyers and those who made you waste shall go out from you.
Awake, awake, put on your strength, Zion; put on your beautiful garments, Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into you the uncircumcised and the unclean.
Shake yourself from the dust! Arise, sit up, Jerusalem! Release yourself from the bonds of your neck, captive daughter of Zion!
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of good, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
The voice of your watchmen! they lift up the voice, together do they sing; for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD returns to Zion.
Break out into joy, sing together, you waste places of Jerusalem; for the LORD has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem.
The LORD has made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Depart, depart, go out from there, touch no unclean thing! Go out of the midst of her! Cleanse yourselves, you who bear the vessels of the LORD.
For you shall not go out in haste, neither shall you go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.
“Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the LORD’s glory is risen on you.
For, behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise on you, and his glory shall be seen on you.
Nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.
“Lift up your eyes all around, and see: they all gather themselves together, they come to you; your sons shall come from far, and your daughters shall be carried in the arms.
