  1. Now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the animals of the field also have I given him to serve him.

  2. All the nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son’s son, until the time of his own land come: and then many nations and great kings shall make him their bondservant.

  3. It shall happen, that the nation and the kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, says the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.

  4. But as for you, don’t you listen to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreams, nor to your soothsayers, nor to your sorcerers, who speak to you, saying, You shall not serve the king of Babylon:

  5. for they prophesy a lie to you, to remove you far from your land, and that I should drive you out, and you should perish.

  6. But the nation that shall bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, that nation will I let remain in their own land, says the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.

  7. Of the children of Ammon. Thus says the LORD: Has Israel no sons? has he no heir? why then does Malcam possess Gad, and his people well in its cities?

  8. Therefore behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard against Rabbah of the children of Ammon; and it shall become a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel possess those who possessed him, says the LORD.

  9. Wail, Heshbon, for Ai is laid waste; cry, you daughters of Rabbah, clothe yourself in sackcloth: lament, and run back and forth among the fences; for Malcam shall go into captivity, his priests and his princes together.

  10. Why do you glory in the valleys, your flowing valley, backsliding daughter? who trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come to me?

  11. Behold, I will bring a fear on you, says the Lord, the LORD of Hosts, from all who are around you; and you shall be driven out every man right out, and there shall be no one to gather together the fugitives.

  12. But afterward I will bring back the captivity of the children of Ammon, says the LORD.

  13. You, son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord GOD concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and say, A sword, a sword is drawn, for the slaughter it is furbished, to cause it to devour, that it may be as lightning;

  14. while they see for you false visions, while they divine lies to you, to lay you on the necks of the wicked who are deadly wounded, whose day has come in the time of the iniquity of the end.

  15. Cause it to return into its sheath. In the place where you were created, in the land of your birth, will I judge you.

  16. I will pour out my indignation on you; I will blow on you with the fire of my wrath; and I will deliver you into the hand of brutish men, skillful to destroy.

  17. You shall be for fuel to the fire; your blood shall be in the midst of the land; you shall be remembered no more: for I, the LORD, have spoken it.

  18. the LORD’s word came to me, saying,

  19. Son of man, set your face toward the children of Ammon, and prophesy against them:

  20. and tell the children of Ammon, Hear the word of the Lord GOD: Thus says the Lord GOD, Because you said, Aha, against my sanctuary, when it was profaned; and against Eretz-Israel, when it was made desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity:

  21. therefore, behold, I will deliver you to the children of the east for a possession, and they shall set their encampments in you, and make their dwellings in you; they shall eat your fruit, and they shall drink your milk.

  22. I will make Rabbah a stable for camels, and the children of Ammon a resting place for flocks: and you shall know that I am the LORD.

  23. For thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have clapped your hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced with all the despite of your soul against Eretz-Israel;

  24. therefore, behold, I have stretched out my hand on you, and will deliver you for a plunder to the nations; and I will cut you off from the peoples, and I will cause you to perish out of the countries: I will destroy you; and you shall know that I am the LORD.

  25. Thus says the Lord GOD: Because Moab and Seir say, Behold, the house of Judah is like all the nations;
