  1. Son of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt, and tell him, You were likened to a young lion of the nations: yet you are as a monster in the seas; and you broke out with your rivers, and troubled the waters with your feet, and fouled their rivers.

  15. For, behold, they have gone away from destruction. Egypt will gather them up. Memphis will bury them. Nettles will possess their pleasant things of silver. Thorns will be in their tents.

  16. “When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

  17. “They won’t return into the land of Egypt; but the Assyrian will be their king, because they refused to repent.

  18. They will come trembling like a bird out of Egypt, and like a dove out of the land of Assyria; and I will settle them in their houses,” says the LORD.

  20. “But I am the LORD your God from the land of Egypt. I will yet again make you dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast.

  21. By a prophet the LORD brought Israel up out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved.

  22. “Yet I am the LORD your God from the land of Egypt; and you shall acknowledge no god but me, and besides me there is no savior.

  23. Egypt will be a desolation, and Edom will be a desolate wilderness, for the violence done to the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

  24. Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

  25. Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying:
