  1. He that hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man,

  2. Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.

  3. Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.

  4. When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.

  5. Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;

  6. If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.

  7. None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.

  8. Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal.

  9. When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby.

  10. But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.

  11. O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.

  12. Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

  13. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

  14. Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

  15. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

  16. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

  17. That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

  18. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

  19. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

  20. ¶ And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

  21. And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

  22. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

  23. Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

  24. The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

  25. Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
