  1. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

  2. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

  3. Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

  4. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

  5. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.

  6. ¶ But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

  7. Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

  8. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

  9. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

  10. Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

  11. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

  12. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

  13. ¶ But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.

  14. But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

  15. And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;

  16. Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

  17. Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

  18. But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.

  19. These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.

  20. For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.

  21. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

  22. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

  23. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

  24. ¶ We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

  25. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
