  1. And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.

  2. But the LORD was wroth with me for your sakes, and would not hear me: and the LORD said unto me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this matter.

  14. ¶ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

  15. ¶ The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

  16. ¶ Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

  17. ¶ The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?

  18. ¶ He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

  19. And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

  20. I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

  21. But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

  22. ¶ Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.

  23. When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and an oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.

  24. ¶ Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.

  25. I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.
