  1. ¶ For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.

  2. Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

  3. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

  4. (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

  5. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

  6. And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

  7. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

  8. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

  9. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

  10. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

  11. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

  12. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

  13. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

  14. And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

  15. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

  16. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

  17. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

  18. Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.

  19. ¶ Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

  20. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

  21. ¶ This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;

  22. Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

  23. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

  24. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

  25. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
