  14. Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

  15. For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

  16. That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

  17. What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

  18. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

  19. But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

  20. ¶ Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.

  21. Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

  22. Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

  23. That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

  24. (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

  25. For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
