  1. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

  2. I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

  3. For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

  4. What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

  10. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

  11. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

  12. ¶ What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.

  13. But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

  14. Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

  15. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

  16. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

  17. For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

  18. For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

  19. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.

  20. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

  21. ¶ We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

  22. Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

  23. For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.

  24. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

  25. ¶ Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
