  1. For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.

  2. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

  3. ¶ Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

  9. ¶ Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

  10. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

  11. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

  12. ¶ Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

  13. Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

  14. Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

  15. Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

  16. ¶ Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

  17. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

  18. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

  19. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

  20. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

  21. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

  22. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

  23. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

  24. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

  25. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
