  17. And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,

  18. Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.

  19. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

  20. That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;

  21. From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.

  22. And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

  23. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.

  24. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
