  1. For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

  2. ¶ For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.

  3. And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

  4. I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.

  7. For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.

  8. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

  9. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

  10. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

  11. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

  12. That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

  13. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

  14. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

  15. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

  16. For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

  17. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

  18. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

  19. Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

  20. ¶ Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

  21. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
