  1. Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.

  2. Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.

  3. Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.

  4. Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

  5. And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.

  6. For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.

  7. They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.

  8. For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.

  9. And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

  10. ¶ A Song of degrees. Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say:

  11. Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me.

  12. The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows.

  13. ¶ Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

  14. Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

  15. ¶ If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:

  16. For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.

  17. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

  18. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

  19. That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

  20. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

  21. And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

  22. Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

  23. But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

  24. Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

  25. And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.
