  1. Hee caused the arrowes of his quiuer to enter into my reines.

  2. I was a derision to all my people, and their song all the day.

  3. He hath filled me with bitternes, and made me drunken with wormewood.

  4. He hath also broken my teeth with stones, and hath couered me with ashes.

  5. Thus my soule was farre off from peace: I forgate prosperitie,

  7. Remembring mine affliction, and my mourning, the wormewood and the gall.

  8. My soule hath them in remembrance, and is humbled in me.

  9. I consider this in mine heart: therefore haue I hope.

  10. And said, I cryed in mine affliction vnto the Lord, and he heard me: out of the bellie of hell cryed I, and thou heardest my voyce.

  11. For thou haddest cast me into the bottome in the middes of the sea, and the floods compassed me about: all thy surges, and all thy waues passed ouer me.

  12. Then I saide, I am cast away out of thy sight: yet will I looke againe towarde thine holy Temple.

  13. Woe is me, for I am as the sommer gatherings, and as the grapes of the vintage: there is no cluster to eate: my soule desired the first ripe fruites.

  14. The good man is perished out of the earth, and there is none righteous among men: they all lye in wayte for blood: euery man hunteth his brother with a net.

  15. To make good for the euil of their hands, the prince asked, and the iudge iudgeth for a reward: therefore the great man he speaketh out the corruption of his soule: so they wrapt it vp.

  16. The best of them is as a brier, and the most righteous of them is sharper then a thorne hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation commeth: then shalbe their confusion.

  17. Trust ye not in a friend, neither put ye confidence in a counseller: keepe the doores of thy mouth from her that lyeth in thy bosome.

  18. For the sonne reuileth the father: ye daughter riseth vp against her mother: the daughter in lawe against her mother in lawe, and a mans enemies are the men of his owne house.

  19. Therefore I will looke vnto the Lord: I will waite for God my Sauiour: my God will heare me.

  20. But he shall say, I tell you, I knowe you not whence ye are: depart from me, all ye workers of iniquitie.

  21. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth when ye shall see Abraham and Isaac, and Iacob, and all the Prophets in the kingdome of God, and your selues thrust out at doores.

  22. For behold, the dayes wil come, when men shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombes that neuer bare, and the pappes which neuer gaue sucke.

  23. Then shall they begin to say to the mountaines, Fall on vs: and to the hilles, Couer vs.

  24. And heauen departed away, as a scroule, when it is rolled, and euery mountaine and yle were mooued out of their places.

  25. And the Kinges of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chiefe captaines, and the mighty men, and euery bondman, and euery free man, hid themselues in dennes, and among the rockes of the mountaines,
