  1. And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? Then is the scandal of the cross made void.

  14. Looking on Jesus, the author and finisher of faith, who, having joy set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and now sitteth on the right hand of the throne of God.

  15. For think diligently upon him that endured such opposition from sinners against himself that you be not wearied, fainting in your minds.

  16. Christ therefore having suffered in the flesh, be you also armed with the same thought: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sins:

  17. But if you partake of the sufferings of Christ, rejoice that, when his glory shall be revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

  18. But, if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed: but let him glorify God in that name.

  19. Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commend their souls in good deeds to the faithful Creator.

  20. And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them and make merry: and shall send gifts one to another, because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt upon the earth.
