Bible Verses About Unbelief
Key Bible Verses
Some were convinced by what he said,
What is revealed is God’s anger from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people who in their wickedness keep suppressing the truth;
If some of them were unfaithful, so what? Does their faithlessness cancel God’s faithfulness?
He did not by lack of trust decide against God’s promises. On the contrary, by trust he was given power as he gave glory to God,
However, Isra’el, even though they kept pursuing a Torah that offers righteousness, did not reach what the Torah offers.
Why? Because they did not pursue righteousness as being grounded in trusting but as if it were grounded in doing legalistic works. They stumbled over the stone that makes people stumble.
Moreover, the righteousness grounded in trusting says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend to heaven?’” — that is, to bring the Messiah down —
or, “‘Who will descend into Sh’ol?’” — that is, to bring the Messiah up from the dead.
But how can they call on someone if they haven’t trusted in him? And how can they trust in someone if they haven’t heard about him? And how can they hear about someone if no one is proclaiming him?
The problem is that they haven’t all paid attention to the Good News and obeyed it. For Yesha‘yahu says, “Adonai, who has trusted what he has heard from us?”
but to Isra’el he says, “All day long I held out my hands to a people who kept disobeying and contradicting.”
What follows is that Isra’el has not attained the goal for which she is striving. The ones chosen have obtained it, but the rest have been made stonelike,
True, but so what? They were broken off because of their lack of trust. However, you keep your place only because of your trust. So don’t be arrogant; on the contrary, be terrified!
Just as you yourselves were disobedient to God before but have received mercy now because of Isra’el’s disobedience;
so also Isra’el has been disobedient now, so that by your showing them the same mercy that God has shown you, they too may now receive God’s mercy.
For God has shut up all mankind together in disobedience, in order that he might show mercy to all.
But the doubter comes under condemnation if he eats, because his action is not based on trust. And anything not based on trust is a sin.
that I will be rescued from the unbelievers in Y’hudah, and that my service for Yerushalayim will be acceptable to God’s people there.
For the message about the execution-stake is nonsense to those in the process of being destroyed, but to us in the process of being saved it is the power of God.
Precisely because Jews ask for signs and Greeks try to find wisdom,
we go on proclaiming a Messiah executed on a stake as a criminal! To Jews this is an obstacle, and to Greeks it is nonsense;
Now the natural man does not receive the things from the Spirit of God — to him they are nonsense! Moreover, he is unable to grasp them, because they are evaluated through the Spirit.
Thus tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers, while prophecy is not for unbelievers but for believers.
They do not come to trust because the god of the ‘olam hazeh has blinded their minds, in order to prevent them from seeing the light shining from the Good News about the glory of the Messiah, who is the image of God.
Do not yoke yourselves together in a team with unbelievers. For how can righteousness and lawlessness be partners? What fellowship does light have with darkness?
