My son, keep my words, store up my commands with you.

Obey my commands, and live; guard my teaching like the pupil of your eye.

so that they can keep you from unknown women, from loose women with their seductive talk.

Don't gaze at the red wine as it gives its color to the cup. It may glide down smoothly now;

but in the end, it bites like a serpent -yes, it strikes like a poisonous snake.

Your eyes will see peculiar things, your mind will utter nonsense.

“Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”? Maybe, but God will put an end to both of them. Anyhow, the body is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body.

God raised up the Lord, and he will raise us up too by his power.

Don’t you know that your bodies are parts of the Messiah? So, am I to take parts of the Messiah and make them parts of a prostitute? Heaven forbid!

Don’t you know that a man who joins himself to a prostitute becomes physically one with her? For the Tanakh says, “The two will become one flesh”;

but the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit.

Run from sexual immorality! Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the fornicator sins against his own body.

Or don’t you know that your body is a temple for the Ruach HaKodesh who lives inside you, whom you received from God? The fact is, you don’t belong to yourselves;

Now to deal with the questions you wrote about: “Is it good for a man to keep away from women?”

Well, because of the danger of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife and each woman her own husband.

Actually, I wish everyone were like me; but each has his own gift from God, one this, another that.

Now to the single people and the widows I say that it is fine if they remain unmarried like me;

but if they can’t exercise self-control, they should get married; because it is better to get married than to keep burning with sexual desire.

Now the question about the unmarried: I do not have a command from the Lord, but I offer an opinion as one who by the Lord’s mercy is worthy to be trusted.

I suppose that in a time of stress like the present it is good for a person to stay as he is.
