  1. They bruised his feet with shackles and placed his neck in irons,

  2. until his prediction came true and the word of the LORD proved him right.

  10. Who then is like Me? Let him say so! Let him declare his case before Me, since I established an ancient people. Let him foretell the things to come, and what is to take place.

  11. The word of the LORD came to me, saying:

  12. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

  13. “I have loved you,” says the LORD. But you ask, “How have You loved us?” “Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?” declares the LORD. “Yet Jacob I have loved,

  14. but Esau I have hated, and I have made his mountains a wasteland and left his inheritance to the desert jackals.”

  15. At that time Jesus declared, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.

  16. Yes, Father, for this was well-pleasing in Your sight.

  17. So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”

  18. “You will indeed drink My cup,” Jesus said. “But to sit at My right or left is not Mine to grant. These seats belong to those for whom My Father has prepared them.”

  19. For many are called, but few are chosen.”

  20. If those days had not been cut short, nobody would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, those days will be cut short.

  21. Two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left.

  22. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.

  23. Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

  24. The Son of Man will go just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed. It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

  25. If the Lord had not cut short those days, nobody would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, whom He has chosen, He has cut them short.
