  1. For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders that would deceive even the elect, if that were possible.

  14. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day.

  16. It is written in the Prophets: ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from Him comes to Me—

  17. You did not choose Me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will remain—so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you.

  18. If you were of the world, it would love you as its own. Instead, the world hates you, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.

  19. For You granted Him authority over all people, so that He may give eternal life to all those You have given Him.

  20. I have revealed Your name to those You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours; You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.

  21. I ask on their behalf. I do not ask on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those You have given Me; for they are Yours.

  22. Because of this, the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. However, Jesus did not say that he would not die, but only, “If I want him to remain until I return, what is that to you?”

  23. Jesus replied, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by His own authority.

  24. He was delivered up by God’s set plan and foreknowledge, and you, by the hands of the lawless, put Him to death by nailing Him to the cross.

  25. This promise belongs to you and your children and to all who are far off—to all whom the Lord our God will call to Himself.”
