  1. Have you been thinking all along that we were making a defense to you? We speak before God in Christ, and all of this, beloved, is to build you up.

  2. This is why I write these things while absent, so that when I am present I will not need to be severe in my use of the authority that the Lord gave me for building you up, not for tearing you down.

  21. Join one another in following my example, brothers, and carefully observe those who walk according to the pattern we set for you.

  22. Yes, and I ask you, my true yokefellow, to help these women who have labored with me for the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.

  23. For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,

  24. Tell Archippus: “See to it that you complete the ministry you have received in the Lord.”

  25. For our appeal does not arise from deceit or ulterior motives or trickery.
