  1. Behold, I tell you a mystery: We all shall not sleep, but we shall all be changed,

  2. in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

  3. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

  4. But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

  5. O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?

  6. The sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law:

  7. but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

  8. yea, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raiseth the dead:

  9. who delivered us out of so great a death, and will deliver: on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;

  10. according to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing shall I be put to shame, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.

  11. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

  12. But I am in a strait betwixt the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ; for it is very far better:

  13. yet to abide in the flesh is more needful for your sake.

  14. But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope.

  15. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also that are fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

  16. For God appointed us not unto wrath, but unto the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

  17. who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

  18. For I am already being offered, and the time of my departure is come.

  19. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith:

  20. henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give to me at that day; and not to me only, but also to all them that have loved his appearing.

  21. Since then the children are sharers in flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner partook of the same; that through death he might bring to nought him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

  22. and might deliver all them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

  23. and the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

  24. For the sun ariseth with the scorching wind, and withereth the grass; and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his goings.

  25. And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne; and books were opened: and another book was opened, which isthe bookof life: and the dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works.
